Andrea Berkowitz

Andrea B. Berkowitz, a partner at the firm, focuses her practice on mediation, collaborative law, and negotiated settlements of a wide range of family law and matrimonial matters, including equitable distribution, child custody, spousal and child support, and paternity. Ms. Berkowitz also specializes in negotiating prenuptial and postnuptial agreements for high-net-worth clients.

Ms. Berkowitz is known for her compassionate approach and commitment to finding creative, non-litigation solutions to complex family law issues. She believes that the best outcomes, both emotionally and financially, are often achieved outside the courtroom. As a skilled mediator and collaborative law attorney, she works closely with her clients to develop personalized strategies aimed at resolving disputes amicably, avoiding the high emotional and financial costs of traditional litigation. However, when necessary, Ms. Berkowitz is a powerful advocate in the courtroom, ensuring that her clients’ interests are fiercely protected.

Before transitioning to family and matrimonial law, Ms. Berkowitz served as a Special Assistant Corporation Counsel for the New York City Administration for Children’s Services, gaining invaluable experience in the welfare and best interests of children. This background enhances her ability to approach family law matters with both sensitivity and legal insight.

Ms. Berkowitz has been widely recognized in the legal community for her excellence in family law, earning inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® and being named a New York Super Lawyer. She is an active member of the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York, the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals, the Matrimonial Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. Ms. Berkowitz earned her B.A. from Arizona State University and her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law, where she served as an associate editor of the Hofstra Law Review.
