About

Katherine Poulos is an associate at Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein, LLP.

Ms. Poulos brings a wealth of family law experience to the firm. She joined the firm after serving as a Court Attorney to a presiding Judge in Kings County Family Court. Her experience in that role provided her with unique insight into the complex issues that families face in litigation. Ms. Poulos also spent several years advocating for families and children, focusing her practice on complex custody and visitation disputes, child and spousal support, and maltreatment matters brought by the Administration for Children’s Services. In her previous role at Lawyers for Children, Ms. Poulos appeared in Manhattan Family Court daily to litigate on behalf of her child clients, deepening her commitment to compassionately and zealously advocate for her clients. Prior to that, Ms. Poulos litigated in Nassau County Family Court as an attorney with the Legal Aid Society, representing clients through all stages of proceedings, including trial when settlement was not attainable. Ms. Poulos has extensive experience litigating support, custody and visitation, and orders of protection cases.

Ms. Poulos is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. A graduate of the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, Ms. Poulos earned her Juris Doctor in 2015. In law school, Ms. Poulos participated in the Youth Advocacy Clinic, advocating for youth who were neglected or abandoned and ensuring they had pathways to permanent residence.
